Hypogeum do from Mgarr or Valletta?

We overnight in Valetta and spend the day in Mgarr. I just stumbled upon the Hypogeum when researching and think it looks quite cool. Would I buy tickets for the day we are in Mgarr or Valletta? How does one get there from the port? What to do after? Sorry for so many questions I am a bit out of my league on this trip. Thanks

We are also looking into the Hypogeum. Here is what I found out. We are sailing on the Westerdam and will be in Malta10/22/10

 

The tour takes about an hour.

The trip by bus from Paola to Valletta takes about 25 min.

The Hypogeum is located very close to Valletta, about a 10-minute taxi or 15-minute bus ride. The one-hour tour is limited to 15, so you must book ahead at the website listed above. We took a taxi from Old Valletta so as to be on time, then visited the Tarxien Temples, about a five-minute walk away, then took the bus from there back to Valletta.

 

A fascinating place and well worth the effort.
