Do you feed your tour guide?

I've been on group tours before whereby the guides eat with other guides and they leave you alone. Is that the same with Bernard tour guides?

What if you're going on a private tour? Do you feed him? My husband would say, it would be the honorable thing to do -- to buy him lunch.

What is the custom? If we're supposed to then we will but if we don't have to, we won't. We will tip (cash) at the end. Thanks.

On Bernard's tours, lunchtime came for us when we were at Orient Beach. To be honest, once we exited the van and headed up the beach, Bernard basically made himself invisible. He's a very pleasant easy-going man - he'd probably be very pleased if you asked him as you're exiting the van at the beach (assuming your timing is similar to ours) if he'd enjoy being your guest for lunch. I have no doubt that he could tell you which place on the beach has the very best food too!
