katredd Posted January 26, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 26, 2005 :) I apologize if this is already posted, but I can't seem to get anything posted today... eek. My family (husband, 2 kids - 7 & 9) are planning a cruise to Northern Europe / Russia this summer. I'm tempted by RSSC but it is so expensive and we need 2 rooms for 4 people... NCL has a cruise on a brand new ship Norwegian Jewel, and HAL has a ship Westerdam that is priced lower than the others.... EEK. Question is.. what is your experience and suggestions on a good trip for the kids? We will take them on excursions etc.. but they need to have fun onboard too. Thanks all! Willsot Posted January 27, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 27, 2005 RSSC is in a different league (like Crystal) than HAL or NCL. We are choosing HAL for a Baltic cruise this summer. Have sailed HAL before and were pleased.
doone Posted January 27, 2005 #3 Share Posted January 27, 2005 I took the HAL cruise to the Baltics on the Amsterdam a few years back. While there weren't alot of kids onboard, the few we saw seemed to have a good time. You will find HAL to have a bit larger cabins than NCL. My experience was NCL has the smallest cabins I have ever seen, HAL, I was pleasantly surprised. The Westerdam is HAL's newest Vista ship and she seems to be a beautiful ship. If I were you, I would vote on the Westerdam, I think you will be pleasantly surprised. This is a very port intensive itinerary, each day we were exhausted after our excursions and the time differences. I have to say, the Baltic's itinerary has been my absolute favorite cruise so far. Enjoy.
