Klongmaster - questions about red shirt situation

Hi Klongmaster... we're leaving tomorrow April 8, arriving BKK at 11 pm April 9th. Do you think the airport will be impacted? We're staying at the Millennium Hilton... is it safe to walk around that area? How will the drive to the port be? I would like to hear your take on the situation in the city.
