Statendam refit questions

We are considering a cruise on the Statendam in December and are confused by the info on HAL's website re the drydock time line. Does anyone know what will be done in Phase One? We are hopeful that new soft furnishings, the lanai cabins and maybe the new Italian dining venue will be finished.

The spa cabins would be nice but since we are huge fans of the Promenade deck (quick access to the outside without the cost of a balcony which we have found we don't use very much), we think one of the lanai cabins would really suit us plus it would give us beds parallel rather than perpendicular to the hull as well as floor to ceiling windows.

Anybody shed any light on this as a call to HAL was not very fruitful. Thanx.

I would like to know the same thing. I sail on her in 18 days and I still don't know :D:

I guess as long as she doesn't have any problems during our cruise I'll be happy with that!

I believe they are doing canaletto italian restaurant, redecorating the staterooms with new furniture etc..and refitting the showroom..

THEY are NOT doing the lanai cabins or the retreat on this go round- 2012 or 13 i think

I am going on the Statendam in July and had wondered the same thing

The Statendam has been in dry dock from March 26 finishing on April 11. With much to accomplish they will have new fixtures and soft goods in staterooms and baths which includes carpets, drapes, bedding, tile and vanity in the bath amoung others items.

The showroom will be changed in the seating on the lower floor for better viewing. The midship on deck 8 will be reconfigured with the changes in the Casino, Sports Bar and Shopping Arcade.

The Ocean Bar will be refurbished and carpets replaced in many public areas. Canaletto, the Italian restraunt, will be introduced in the Lido.

All of the above are interior refurbishments which are with the first phase.

The second series of enhancements to the Statendam will be completed in 2013 and to be scheduled later. They include the Lanai Staterooms and the Veranda Staterooms at the aft end of the ship. The Sea View pool will be moved up to the Lido Deck and become the Retreat with a pizza area called the Slice and a new bar. To add all of this to the aft end of the ship, the decks will be extended similar to the Veendam and the Rottrerdam.
