NCL's Great Stirrup Cay

nemesis

Recommended Posts

Great Sturrip Cay is a tendering port with lovely beaches and sandy area for picnicing. The ship sets up a bar b que and the pool band plays most of the day. There is water equipment for rent, floats, etc. The beach is equipped with chairs, low sand chairs and umbrellas lines up in rows. If arranged for beforehand, they have a few sand wheelchairs with large balloon type wheels that move on the beach. The bathrooms are a bit of a walk from the beach area and there is a small starw market where local natives sell wares. Getting off the tender go to the left as the water is much less rocky and easier to navigate.

We love GSC -- we've been there twice. The beaches are great, and it is such a relaxing day. One other piece of advice -- don't abandon your place on the beach / in the pleasant water of GSC when they say it is time to catch the tender. It usually takes 4+ more tenders to get everyone from the island to the ship, so why leave the beach to wait in line? We've employed this strategy both times and GSC... you can see the tenders and whether or not there is still a line in plenty of time to get to it when it is *really* the last tender. Both times, we've gotten an extra hour on the island by doing this.
