Poesia: deck 12 aft- are there chairs?

We were on the Orchestra and at the aft of deck 12 there was an open deck with lounge chairs. Anybody who has traveled on the Poesia know if it is set up the same way?

Also, do they have the same wonderful Gelato at the pool bar as on the Orchestra?

Hi,

Poesia is set up the same, with deck lounge chairs on 12 aft. There are also lounges up on 15 aft, and regular (small) chairs on 13 aft.

And they also do have the gelato at the pool bar :)

Thanks satincruz,

Glad to hear it is the same and that there are chairs.

I have booked an inside cabin closest to the door that goes out to the aft-deck on 12. We get the ultra cheap price of an inside but can be outside in a flash. Next best thing to a balcony cabin.

And thrilled about the Gelato! some complained of having to pay for it but I found it reasonably priced and so delicious it will be the first thing I do after I board.

Hi monicajay,

That's a good idea! And that deck never seemed to get too crowded, either, so even better. I remembered that I took a picture of the 12 aft hallway (starboard), so maybe you can see your room door in it :)

And a family on our cruise also found 12 aft helpful ... for drying laundry :D

Hi satin,

thanks for the info. Dw & i are on the 4/27 trans/atl in rm 12183 aft portside. That will be perfect for us. Does the ship have a laundry room where you can do your own?

Hi lousk,

Poesia actually doesn't have any self-service laundries. I think that that family just washed out the clothes in the shower or sink (and it made for a funny picture).

But if you've cruised MSC before, you can join the MSC Club, and then one of the first benefits is that they'll do laundry for you for free (might just be 1 load per cruise or maybe 1 load per person per cruise, not sure on that, so check with your steward):

Booked 12209, last door inside before getting to the door that leads out. Too funny the picture of clothes drying on deck 12.

Your room will be right next to a powerful fan, so you should get really good sleep with that white noise :)

I never figured out exactly what the fan was for/from, but every time I went out on 12 aft, it was always blowing, on both sea days and port days. And it was also nice to lay in front of it to cool off when the sun got too hot. Hopefully you will enjoy it, too ;)

can you sit out at the aft of deck 12 or is it enclosed?

can you hear that fan in the cabin?

just booking a 14 day cruise and want to be sure

thanks

talent

Hi talent,

I'm not sure about hearing the fan inside the cabin--probably you can a little bit, if you're in 12207, 12209, 12210, or 12212 ...

Here's a nice photo I found on flickr:

Deck 12 is open air. All of the aft decks you see are open air, actually, and you can sit or stand out on all of them. And they're a little bigger than they look :)

Deck 12 is the first one above the cabins, and they put loungers out on it each morning. They also put loungers out on Deck 15. And they have tables and chairs out on Deck 13 (right outside of the buffet). The 8 small "pocket" decks are also very nice.

You can choose the "Original size" and get a very close-up look. The 2 fans are towards the middle of Deck 12.

Hi Talent,

Sorry to hear about that deck 12 cabin!

If there is anything back there--even an interior cabin--you may still like that. The reason being is that it is just a short walk down the hall, to one of those nice deck areas.

As far as the bow decks--decks 9, 10, 11, 14, and 15 all have small open air areas at the front. Deck 12 has the bridge at the front. These front areas are nice too, and usually very quiet. But they can get very, very windy sometimes when the ship is moving. They are nice, though, if you don't mind the wind. Here's a flickr photo. You can see very close-up again with the original size:

MSC Poesia

Deck 9 is the widest one, and you also can most easily stay back out of the wind on it. Deck 8 (with the small pool) is only for the ship's crew.

Really I will say that Poesia is one of the very best ships for all of the open areas, so you almost can't go wrong with any cabin. Maybe the biggest thing is to check the decks above and below--and try not to be right under or over a lounge if noise bothers you (also it can be noisy sometimes under the pool areas). And try not to be under/over the casino or cigar room, if smoking bothers you.

Here is a deck plan you can check:

Hi again Talent,

I just realized you're going to the Caribbean in March (which to me is a pretty hot time). So actually, being near to the FRONT deck areas may be better, for cooling off in the strong breezes.

And for the strongest breezes of all--on the very hottest days--go up to the very top deck in the front :)

Hi Talentscout,

I'm glad that I can help you :)

Usually right when I get on board, I try to do a full walking tour of every part of the ship. Good exercise, and I find all of the lil nooks and crannies early on. So, if you feel like doing that, you'll come upon many nice places on Poesia.

I hope you get a great cabin ;)

you are on the our cruise second half. There will be more schoolage kids on that one as it is Spring Break.I am sharing a room with my DD and GS age 6.Our friend and her son 7 have their own cabin.I am hoping to use theirs as the boys will probably want to be together. That would leave the other cabin to me alone. Our cabins are forward on the 12 floor.Come join our small roll call ,if you would like.
