rpinphx1 Posted April 13, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 13, 2010 HI, 2 adults want to visit NYC for 3 days prior to cruise. We have a rental car, no way we are parking in NYC. We're thinking we can stay in SI & take ferry into NYC daily. Anyone stay @ a SI hotel you would recommend? Thanks.
138east Posted April 13, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 13, 2010 Lots of questions. What are your dates? Where are you coming from? Are you cruising out of Bayonne, Manhattan, or Brooklyn? Why are you paying to keep a rental car in the NY area for 3 days while you sightsee in NY? Where are you returning the car and how are you getting to the pier? What is your budget? My first reaction would be to recommend staying in Secaucus instead of Staten Island - free parking and 20 minute bus ride to Port Authority. It will be a long trip from SI to Manhattan each day. However, there are other options depending on the info asked above.
rpinphx1 Posted April 14, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted April 14, 2010 The dates are 10/1 - 10/4/10. This is post cruise. We have a free car to use but don't want to park it in NYC, will be using it to travel around Hudson Valley post cruise also. We want to visit NYC for a few days. Looking @ hotel in NYC the $ are very high. So I am trying to find --where we can park car, stay in a hotel outside of NYC that has easy trans. into the city. Any ideas? thanks so much
138east Posted April 14, 2010 #4 Share Posted April 14, 2010 Look at the Secaucus hotels - bus service to NY, free parking. Jersey City - Candlewood Suites - Path train to NY, free parking.
