Chris and Marcy Posted April 13, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 13, 2010 :confused: I just changed my ressie from inside to ocean view gty for Freedom on May 2nd. It was $200 more for the upgrade but now I don't know where on the ship I'll be. What did you get when you booked gty!
MrChuckFL Posted April 13, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 13, 2010 When you book a GTY the cruise line will assign you a cabin. In your case, an Ocean view or higher prior to sailing. Most of the time this is done within 3 weeks of sailing but can be as late a a day or two prior to sail date. Sometimes you wont know until you get to the pier but this is rare. When you log in to the RCL website to complete your documents you will see if you have been assigned a cabin yet.
cruiseguy1016 Posted April 13, 2010 #3 Share Posted April 13, 2010 We booked an oceanview GTY on Majesty and had our cabin assignment 5 months prior to departure. We did not want the cabin they assigned us to so we asked to be put in another. There are two things you can do with an assigned GTY cabin. One is, you can ask to have your name put back into the GTY pool and hope for a different cabin. Or, you can call and asked to be moved to a specific cabin. Lets say the category they assigned you is a category "I". Go on line and find another category "I" that is available that you would prefer. Then call your TA or RCI and asked to be moved. It's a little known policy but RCI will move you within the same category that you have been assigned to.
MrChuckFL Posted April 13, 2010 #4 Share Posted April 13, 2010 I just looked at the price. We are sailing on the Celebrity Solstice on May 2. A balcony on the Solstice is $300 less. That is crazy....
