CRUISING71 Posted April 16, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 16, 2010 Hello, We are from the West coast and planning our first cruise leaving from Florida. Can you tell me which port is easiest to get on the cruise from the airport?
cccer Posted April 16, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 16, 2010 Miami and Ft. Lauderdale are not bad, Port Canaveral is about an hour in a rental car from Orlando. Depends if you are coming in early and what you want to do before your cruise.:o
JohninDC Posted April 16, 2010 #3 Share Posted April 16, 2010 Taxi from MIA to Port of Miami is $24+tip and trip takes about 15+ minutes. Taxi from TPA to port is about $25+tip and the trip takes about 15 minutes. Taxi from FLL to port is about $15+tip and trip takes about 10 minutes. Because of the discount arilines, many fly into FLL for cruises leaving from Miami - taxi or shuttle takes about 40 minutes; taxi will cost $85+, and shuttle service from SAS (www.ridesas.com) and others will cost about $15 per person. MCO (Orlando) is about 45-60 minutes from Port Canaveral - search these boards for shuttle service; many who cruise from here rent a car and arrive a day early - good advice for any cruise port, especailly if you are flying in from the west coast. You never know when flights will be delayed or cancelled. I have not cruised out of JAX, but know that the airport is north of town and should be relatively easy to get to the port. Good luck!:)
CRUISING71 Posted April 16, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted April 16, 2010 Thank you for the advices. I think we will narrow it down to Ft Launderdale and Miami. I did some flight checking and it is cheaper if we fly from Lax to Ft. Launderdale or Miami then to Orlando. We are flying in a day before, so now I need to check out where to stay. Thank you!
