Fate of the old Noordam

Recommended Posts

  • 2 weeks later...

I looked at their website at found 6 ships, but none of them remotely resemble Noordam. One was Oceana which we sailed as Ocean Princess in 2002.

From the looks of the other ships, their fleet is somewhat modern, whereas Noordam is over 20 yrs old.

Does anyone know what became of this ship? I know they sold her sister ship, the Niew Amsterdam to American Cruise lines, which later went bankrupt. I doubt there are too many buyers for old ships these days.
The old HAL Noordam was sold to Louis Cruise Lines, and is currently chartered to Thomson Cruises of the UK as the "Thomson Celebration".

Similarly, the former HAL Nieuw Amsterdam is now enjoying a new life as the "Thomson Spirit".

While she is indeed now THOMSON CELEBRATION, she is not chartered to Louis.

THOMSON SPIRIT is chartered by HAL to Louis who operate her on behalf of Thomson.

THOMSON CELEBRATION is chartered by HAL to a Dutch company, Club Cruise who operate her for Thomson. As far as I know, there is no connection between Louis and THOMSON CELEBRATION.
