Lahaina-Is 1 Day With Car Enough??

We will be in Lahaina for 2 days in September aboard RCCL Rhapsody of the Seas. It is a Saturday and Sunday. This is our first Hawaii visit. We have rented a car from Alamo, near the airport at Kanapali. On day 1, we are planning to take a "relaxing" drive up towards the Iao Valley and MAYBE some of the Road to Hana, and just kind of see what we can see. We are now thinking we could just keep the car for the first day and spend the second day just exploring Lahaina on foot, or use public transportation, if available. Or...what could we "easily" do if we had the car for day 2, realizing we would have to turn it in by about 3 in order to get the shuttle to Lahaina in time for the tender to the ship? We also realize overnight parking in Lahaina MAY be an issue. Any advice/info is welcome. Thank you.
