markmdavis Posted April 27, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 27, 2010 Does anyone know if National Car Rental has a shuttle to the port in Miami and also in reverse? I have several free days to use from their travel program and I thought it may be easier/ cheaper to rent a car from the Fort Lauderdale airport, retun it the next day in miami and take their shuttle if they have one. thanks in advance for any answers. Julycruise09 Posted April 27, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 27, 2010 I called them and they couldn't accomodate. Wouldn't let me do a 1 way drop off in the same day. I booked instead with SAS transport for 13$ per person. Good luck!!

sunandsnow Posted April 28, 2010 #4 Share Posted April 28, 2010 In March, we rented a car from National pre-cruise from the airport. We too had a free day. We returned the car at the airport location and told the attendant that we needed a cab to get to the port. Alamo was across the street - the National employee said that we could ride on their shuttle to the port. It worked out great. Mentioned it on this board and another poster said that Alamo was going to discontinue the service but can't remember the date. Post-cruise we had another free day. We rented from National from the Collins address in So. Beach (taxi fare was around $30). We returned the car to the FLL airport. Would not recommend renting out of the Collins address. They had few cars (it was spring break though). Because my DH is Emerald and Executive level he walked to the front of the line and took the only bigger car available that had just arrived. He made several people mad that had been waiting. Even though we had to pay for cabs to pick up the rentals it was still cheaper in the long run ($2.60 for one day and $6.80 for the other for taxes) than taking taxis everywhere. Plus it also gave us a lot of freedom to sightsee in Miami and Fort Lauderdale. If you can, I'd use the free days even though National does not provide shuttles.
