What to do...

When our cruise ship is at Grand Caymans, there will be several other cruise ships in port at the same time. We prefer to avoid crowds and and found the shopping and 7 mile beach to be way over crowded last time we were there. My wife doesn't want to go to Stingray city either.

With that in mind, can someone recommend something for us to do? We tried snorkeling recently and enjoyed it and wouldn't mind doing that again if we can find somewhere not overly crowded.

Snorkeling: You can snorkel at Eden Rock Dive Center. We had a great time there and saw a lot of colorful and different types of fish. Paradise Cafe was really crowded. Walk a little further to Eden Rock Dive Center (about 10 min walk to the right of the tender pier). You can rent equipment there also if needed and lockers. We had 3 ships in port with us and it wasn't crowded at all. You can google their website for more info. I have also read good things about snorkeling at Sunset House. It is a little further and would require a taxi. I'm guessing that it would be less crowded because it is not within walking distance. You can search in these forums for "Sunset House" it has been mentioned several times on this site. You can also google it for their website. Can also snorkel in the opposite direction from the tender pier (walk to the left) at Cheeseburger Reef in front of Burger King. We snorkeled at The Wreck of the Cali (by Divers Down) after all the cruise ship excurstions had left the area and were there with only about 4 other people (large area to snorkel didn't notice them). By taxi or city bus you can go to Cemetary Reef and snorkel there. Info also on this site - search forum for snorkeling Cemetary Reef. There is a sticky at the beginning of this forum with lots of facts about Grand Cayman.

Rent a car: If you don't mind driving on the left. Rent a car and explore and find your own personal areas of solitude.

We used ShoreTrips.com, they offered a couple different tours and were less they what the ship offered.
