A Cruiser's Guide to the history of The Panama Canal

My cruise through the canal in October 2007 (ms Noordam, HAL) was one of the best days of my life and when I returned home I had to find as much about it as possible. So I read 'The Path Between the Seas', did as much research as I could and made this two-parter on the history of the canal. Combining archive photographs, historical information and video taken during the transit I have tried to show how it came about, the cost in human and financial terms, and why the result is widely regarded as the greatest feat of physical engineering of all time.

Part 1

Part 2

These 2 films, which are my personal videos, have a combined total running time of just under 17 minutes.

If you cruise through it please spread the word how great the canal is.
