Sun suites upgraded?

Saw someone mention that while the Sun generally is due for some sprucing up in dry dock that they thought the suites had already been done. Can anyone confirm/deny this? I'll be in an aft AC and would love flat screen, lavazza or just newer furniture. The pictures I've seen of 9076 show a bit of wear, tube tv and Mr Coffee...

Not that any of that is a big deal at all because the room/balcony look fabulous, just curious...

While I cant confirm for sure, when we were in an AC on the Sun late 2008 the suites had still not been updated at all, apart from the bedding which was great. The Hotel Director did tell me at the time that she was due for updating in the months ahead.

I imagine they would had to be of been done by now.

Also you will love the AC. They are a great cabin!

The Sun was scheduled for drydock this next 9/20-10/04 so perhaps that is what the HD was referring to. However, there will be no drydock in 2010 after all. There is a roundtrip Dover cruise to Norway, Iceland, Faroe Islands, Shetland Islands, Scotland and Ireland during that time instead.

Evidently the Sun is now scheduled for drydock sometime next year.

So, I don't see how the suites could have been upgraded in any substantial way.

Al- as I have posted before, I have been in 9076 and LOVED the layout so much. I was much disappointed to not have the Lavazza. But oh well. You will love the aft huge balcony so much you might forget about the Lavazza. Haha.

One hint: there are two thermostats! Took us until day 3 (of 14) to figure that out.

You will adore the suite breakfast and lunch in Il Adagio. It is a beautiful room.

Oh, and when we were in 9076 the shower doors kept swinging open if the seas were rough in the slightest. A little duct tape (thanks to CC tipsters) did the job!

I would love to hear after your cruise who were your concierge (we had Karin G., loved her) and your butler, (we had Satki, although I believe he is no longer with NCL, I hope you get our friend, Armando) and who is the CD, (Pedro was very nice and since I arranged the CC M&G he remembered me and often asked me for input on the cruise).

BTW, the AC on the Sun is pretty special. I believe there are only two each AA and AB, so in an AC you do receive the perk of reserved seating in the theater. Also, you can go into the chocolate buffet early if that appeals to you.

Since the Sun is a smaller ship the walk to the aft never seemed that far.

I liked the Sports Bar. It was a fun place to hang out. Great Margaritas in Las Ramblas. Pacific Heights is pretty but we found the food to be uneven. Good burgers, fries and sausage at the Great Outdoors. The Sun's buffet is too small and a lot of folks camp out there which is frustrating. I don't like buffets so I am going on what my friends told me on that.

Did you do a bar setup? That balcony is a perfect place to sit and watch the world go by.

I hope you love it as much as I did.

We will have 9076 on the Sun in January for the rock n roll cruise.....did not know about the reserved seating for AC on Sun. That sounds great! Any pictures you can send after your cruise, I would love to see....Thanks.

:D wondered about that... no worries...

Oh, and Dave-

How could I forget to tell you that the Sun casino has a nice separate "Texas hold 'em Poker" room and a tournament too.

This is GREAT to know since my husband loves to play Texas Hold 'Em and we'll be on the Sun for a transatlantic cruise in October. Lots of sea days, so lots of time to play Texas Hold 'Em (if he doen't run out of money ).

I've already told him that NCL doesn't charge a 3% cash advance fee for getting gambling money charged to shipboard account at the cashier's cage in the casino. :)
