PV - Canopy Tour - or - Swimming with Dolphins?

While in PV in late April, I'm torn between taking the jungle canopy tour or swimming with the dolphins. Doing both isn't a real possibility so my question is for anyone who has done both. Knowing what you know now - which would you choose?

btw...I'm female mid-40's.

Thanks!

I too wanted to do both so about one month prior to my trip I started

to request the dolphin swim for either 4:00 and 5:00. They said those

times were reserved for the cruise line. I was able to book the canopy

tour for 11:00AM and it is possible to do a late dolphin swim also that is

if you can somehow get a reservation. We poked around the restaurant

and had lunch and then went swimming. You can make it back by 5:00.

We thoroughly enjoyed the canopy tour. I think given the choice I would

do that because it's such a unique excursion. I only know of PV and

Costa Rica that offers it. The dophin swim is available in several ports

so I know I will have another shot at it.

( Oh, I forgot to mention that there were slots available through the

cruise line but opted not to spend that much money in one day and

thought I may be too worn out from the morning excursion. So it can

be done.)

CatGirl - Thanks...I didn't know that the canopy tour was somewhat unique to PV.

Since PV is the first port, I don't want to try to do both - I can't imagine that the swim would be too taxing but I want to make sure that I can get up on one of Randi's Happy Horses the next day in Mazatlan. (haha!)

hi all, I can understand your delema. I have been fortunate enough to have done both, the canopy tour in Costa Rica (2 times) and the swim with the dolphins in the Bahamas (once). To tell you the truth, I'm hard pressed to give you a recommendation on which I preferred, they were both an awesome experience! Which to chose? I'd probaby pick the canopy tour. Why? Well, part of it would be cost. I'm 'guessing' that the dolphin swim is much more expensive. I don't know, the more I think about it, swimming with the dolphins was great but it was a lot of waiting around in the water. I have a friend who did the canopy tour in PV last October and she still can't stop talking about it. Okay, I made up my mind; I'd do the canopy tour!

Glad to see you're doing both. What times did you book. We did the Los

Veronos Canapy tour. It's not offered through the cruise line. Tell us

what you're doing and be sure to give a review when you're back. Oh,

I also did Randi's Happy Horses in Mazatlan. Have a great time.

I've booked both excursions through Princess. ---I'm playing it safe.

I've booked the first canopy tour offered and the last dolphin swim. By doing both I've filled up the entire day on these two excursions. The canopy tour ends at 1PM and the Dolphin Swim starts at 2:15PM.

I'll post a review of both when I get back (end of April) and let you all know how it went.

I wish all my decisions were this easy. I'm hoping I can still walk - (or sit) the next day when we are in Mazatlan - I'm riding one of Randi's Happy Horses!

Now I guess I just need to decide when to schedule a massage at the spa. The night after canopy tour/dolphin swim - or, wait until after riding the horse!

Such a happy dilemma!

Now that's an easy one--after the horseback riding. You won't be

sore at all from the canapy tour. I was sore from the horseback

riding. Strangely enough I wasn't sore in my legs but in my shoulders.

I couldn't figure it out. It was well worth it.

  • 4 weeks later...

Sorry it took so long for me to reply. My computer has been on the fritz.

We had all ages on the canopy tour - from people in their 20's to people

in their 70's. One older gentleman walked with a cane and was wearing

a leg brace. He wasn't able to take the cane with him but he managed

somehow. I was on the Los Veronos tour and from what I've read the

walking is less strenuous than the other company. I definately rate it

two thumbs up!
