careywv Posted May 10, 2010 #1 Share Posted May 10, 2010 Does anyone have a menu pic from Buddy's? We are taking our niece and nephew along with us on our cruise, and our nephew is extremely picky. I wanted to ensure there was something on the menu for him. Thank you!
Traveler353 Posted May 10, 2010 #2 Share Posted May 10, 2010 I prefer Saint Bonnet. Best fried fish in town. For menus from there check out: http://www.zydecocruiser.com/fantasy_c_07/progreso/p.htm page 2.

hdawson Posted May 10, 2010 #5 Share Posted May 10, 2010 Carey. I attended GMS in the fifties and home was near Charleston. Love Greenbrier county. So glad someone saved the Greenbrier, especially someone with ties to the area.
careywv Posted May 10, 2010 Author #6 Share Posted May 10, 2010 GMS - Greenbrier Military School? I work at WVSOM, which is located in the old military school buildings. I used to work at The Greenbrier, and I'm glad to see that it is on the upswing with some local leadership. It's such a gorgeous property. :)
careywv Posted May 10, 2010 Author #7 Share Posted May 10, 2010 So, Le Saint Bonnet over Buddy's? I see that they have fried chicken and fries on their menu, so my nephew will definitely eat that.
hdawson Posted May 10, 2010 #8 Share Posted May 10, 2010 And you can have the whole deep fried snapper. Outstanding and soooooo fresh. I visited the old school last spring. Lewisburg is such a pretty and quaint town.
careywv Posted May 11, 2010 Author #9 Share Posted May 11, 2010 We've made quite a few changes to the campus. I love the small town feel of Lewisburg. Does Le Saint Bonnet have fish tacos? Or does any restaurant in Progreso offer them? My husband is dying for some on this vacation.
golfmom98 Posted May 14, 2010 #10 Share Posted May 14, 2010 Would Buddy's be an ok place to hang out with my 11 yr old son for a relaxing beach day? If not where would you suggest I take him?
hdawson Posted May 14, 2010 #11 Share Posted May 14, 2010 I've stopped at several but can 't remember which one except le Saint Bonnet which would be totally appropriate for families. That's the one I keep going back to.
Traveler353 Posted May 14, 2010 #12 Share Posted May 14, 2010 While I prefer the food at Le Saint Bonnet I do sometimes spend some time at Buddy’s beach area. The owner is a bit of a character and entertaining. Prices are good for snacks (the fish tacos are very good) and drinks. Buddy’s seems to be very popular with the expats and locals once the sun goes down.

mkluvs2cruise Posted June 26, 2010 #14 Share Posted June 26, 2010 We loved Buddy's when we went in February! The owner was hilarious and fun and really went out of his way to make sure we were enjoying our time there. We had an online computer test due the day we were in Progreso and he had free wi-fi. I would recommend this place to all of our friends. We are planning on going back again in September. We had the beef tacos and they were truly authentic and great! *jess* Posted June 27, 2010 #15 Share Posted June 27, 2010 How exactly do you get to Buddy's? I'm assuming you take the street away from the market, pass the statue thing, and just walk down the beach? Is there a big sign or anything?

You got it, just head down the beach and you will see the sign. Big sign and easy to find.
WilliamLawson Posted June 28, 2010 #17 Share Posted June 28, 2010 I find that picky kids dictating where adults are going to eat usually clears up when it's made clear that this is what we are having and if you don't like it that's fine, don't eat it. When they get hungry enough, the pickiness fades away, slowly but surely. :)
