NMLady Posted May 12, 2010 #26 Share Posted May 12, 2010 Someone posted on here last week to say that he'd been stopped when boarding a RC cruise, and was told that he wasn't allowed to sail - NO CRUISE! IF the person really was told 'no cruise', then it wasn't for smuggling alcohol but for some other reason. Cruise lines confiscate alchohol (and most return it the last night), but they do not bar people from a cruise for smuggling alcohol. There must have been more to that story. NMLady Posted May 12, 2010 #27 Share Posted May 12, 2010 do they check carry-on luggage? All carryons and purses etc go through the same kind of xray scanner that is used at the airport. And all passengers go through a metal scanner at the same time their carryon is being scanned, just like at the airport.
okbowler Posted May 12, 2010 #28 Share Posted May 12, 2010 We always have bottles of some size or shape in our carryons, mixers, shampoo. prescriptions etc. which would make them more likely to be checked. As a point of interest, we have never to our knowledge had a carryon checked. But one day.:D Bill
NCTribeFan Posted May 12, 2010 #29 Share Posted May 12, 2010 On our last Carnival cruise out of San Juan they had a Duty Free store in the embarkation termial. I brought 5 bottles on through carry on with no problems. The worst thing they will do is confiscate your booze. You can no longer do this. Good grief, people! There are, like, a DOZEN threads on the Carnival board about how they NOW are CAREFULLY checking bags. Just about everything except the rum runners are being taken. At all embarkation ports. Yes, even San Juan. Go to the board for the cruiseline you're sailing and just look for the threads. And, PLEASE, do start new ones! It's being beaten to death. IMHO, if you can't afford to pay for your drinks on board, you either need to adjust your alcohol consumption or you need to save your money and then cruise when you can!
