Tipping on RCI

Recommended Posts

On our past cruises, we have always tipped our cabin steward, watier, etc. on our own. Most of the time tipping more than the reccomended amount. Do they still allow that or is tipping now added to your bill at the end of the cruise?

I guess I could call RCI but thought you guys could answer this faster than having to be put ON HOLD.

We're booked on Serenade for May 29th sailing from Vancouver to Alaska and we can't wait.

Thanks..Gail J.

On our last RCI cruise Dec 03, you had to request that the tips be put on your S&S card. It was still traditional tipping. In either case today, you can have the purser's office remove any tipping charges (waiter, assistant, steward) from your S&S bill and still tip the way you want. We also tip the people directly.

Just got off the Enchantment Thursday and you had your choice. If you want to put them on your account, just fill out the form and drop it off at the pursers desk and they will leave your slips in your room before the final night dinner. If you wish to leave cash only you can just put the money in the envelopes provided.

When you select to have the tips on your S&S card you will still be given envelopes to present to the employee. If you wish, as we did, that they should get more you can just add the add'l cash you desire. We prefer to have the usual tip on our credit card. It gives us additional points on the credit card. Then you don't need to take as much cash. Have a great trip.

We do the same as lastminutecruiser - have the standard tip put on our account, then tip extra for service that went above & beyond the call. Even with the standard tip, you get a slip of paper to put in the tip envelope, probably so you can hand it to your waitstaff and they know they're not being stiffed.
