anamanxs Posted May 21, 2010 #1 Share Posted May 21, 2010 We are back form our trip of a life time and that is just what it was! This cruise has been planned by many of us for over a year and it lived up to all the expectations and then some. None of our pictures or descriptions will describe what we saw with our eyes; and will have forever in our memories. I am going to break the review up into days traveled which started with a 3 day visit to Seattle prior to the cruise. There are link below for each day. I am also starting some pictures that were taken from out our airplane window as we arrived in Seattle. I am still uploading pictures to an online photo storage area, I guess we took a lot of pictures! I will also include links to all the pictures once they are all uploading. Thanks Cruise Critic for allowing me to host this Group Cruise! We were a small group but all walked away with beautiful memories! luv2gonow Posted May 21, 2010 #5 Share Posted May 21, 2010 Quick question.....Did this cruise sail from Seattle....If it did...does the ship sail east of vancouver island....or out in the pacific? Thanks K
anamanxs Posted May 21, 2010 Author #6 Share Posted May 21, 2010 It does sail from Seattle, the rumor onboard was we went into a straight or channel since the pacific was so rough. Again that was a rumor do not know if it was true or not. A few people were green the first day and night. There was some floor/carpet being done with large fans to dry it on - but nothing like my Bartimore to Bermuda cruise. They were offereing free seasick meds in the infirmiry, it was a notice of such in the FUNTIMES. I really did not think it was as rough as some other cruises I have been on. Nor did I see any body really sick, but a few people did say they were.

anamanxs Posted May 22, 2010 Author #9 Share Posted May 22, 2010 Sorry, we didn't visit any of the bars, I was at the Casino, and it was packed! The comments I have heard while onboard about the entertainment were not that good, the county singer in the casino could play but not much of a singer....... The casino was still active at about 1:30 or 2:00ish!

Here is a link to the uploaded picks: Picture link Annette, Annette, Annettee....as a scrapbooker you know one of the first rules is to give the camera to someone else so that you'll be in some of the pictures!! :p I must say, though, that the pictures you did take are simply breath-taking. anamanxs Posted May 23, 2010 Author #16 Share Posted May 23, 2010 We walked to the water fall from the vistior center. It is about a 45 minute walk. You can get right up to it. It was the only day we had rain.
jlwyn1 Posted May 23, 2010 #17 Share Posted May 23, 2010 I saw in your blog that you stayed at the Quality Inn on John Street. We are booked to stay there next month. Are we in a good location that is close to restaurants and such? How was the hotel?
anamanxs Posted May 23, 2010 Author #18 Share Posted May 23, 2010 I saw in your blog that you stayed at the Quality Inn on John Street. We are booked to stay there next month. Are we in a good location that is close to restaurants and such? How was the hotel? The hotel is old but clean! Everyone is really nice. We walked to downtown everyday but was a LONgggg walk. You are only a block from a bus stop and about 2 blocks form the monterail. They do have a shuttle to the ship which is very reasonable, they will also pick up at the airport during certain times, best to check with them. The breakfast bars include hot foods as well as cold foods. They had a hot tub and inside pool but we did not use either one. We would stay again. anamanxs Posted May 23, 2010 Author #23 Share Posted May 23, 2010 Thanks for posting the Fun Times, Annette. I have another question (sorry): When were the Elegant nights? The first one was the first sea day, the second day cruising. And the second one is Sunday evening after Ketchian. You leave K-town at 1:00pm; so I guess they firgure that gives you enough time to get dressed up. I think the past guest party was Sat. afternoon at 3:30, we did not attend. Don't be sorry, ask any question you have. I am just sorry it takes so long to upload anything. My internet has been really slow since I got back, I wonder if it get zapped while I was gone, I meant to unplug it and didn't.
anamanxs Posted May 24, 2010 Author #24 Share Posted May 24, 2010 We were very lucky to be walking back from the waterfalls to the right of the Glacier when she started calving. It started as a slow rumble and got increasing louder until it sounded like thunder. We would have loved to stayed and watch to see if she dropped more but we had to get back to the ship for departure. Working on Mendenhall blog now.
