lauriebird Posted May 21, 2010 #1 Share Posted May 21, 2010 This is a question for people who have done both or have whale knowedge. We live in the Monterey, Ca. area and have been whale watching here. I was curious if the experience is any different in Alaska? Thanks in advance
zelker Posted May 21, 2010 #2 Share Posted May 21, 2010 IMHO, yes, it's different. First of all, you'll mostly see humpbacks and orcas up there whereas I believe you mostly (only?) see greys in Monterey. Then of course the landscape and water is breathtaking in Alaska - way prettier than along the California coast line, IMHO. And finally, you will see different whale behaviors up there. If you're trying to decide if it's worth the money since you have whales in your backyard, it absolutely is!
