SpaceCoast Posted May 28, 2010 #1 Share Posted May 28, 2010 When cavetubing is it safe to bring your camera? Should I bring a disposable instead?
missingmaui Posted May 28, 2010 #2 Share Posted May 28, 2010 If your camera is waterproof or has a waterproof case, you will be fine. If not, I'd buy a disposable underwater camera or look into a compact, inexpensive waterproof point-and-shoot digital. I would not bring a non-waterproof one. There's not anywhere to store something that you want to keep dry. We have underwater cases for our cameras and used those. *Some guides may carry dry packs- ours did not. In that case, there may be photo ops where he will give you back your camera, but for the action shots you'll be out of luck.
marci4tony Posted June 11, 2010 #3 Share Posted June 11, 2010 Take a waterproof disposable! You just never know...and you need your hands to steer your tube - not like you can hang on to anything! (A fanny pack with BUG SPRAY!!)
Firecon Posted June 11, 2010 #4 Share Posted June 11, 2010 I just received my Canon D10 (waterproof, movie mode, 12 MP) for my upcoming cruise. I tested it out at the pool and it takes amazing shots. Can't wait to try it out on our Belize Cave Tubing experience. There are plenty of opportunities to take short clips of your family and friends while tubing, should be lots of fun.
