Age 17 Ok @ Adult Pool, Hot Tub, Comedy Show?

Recommended Posts

Did a search, found answers ranging from 10 months:rolleyes: to age 21, figured i'd ask here for 'current official' answer.

FYI, Im not going to debate the age provisions in place, just need to know what the rules state.

DS is 17. Naturally;)he's very mature for his age. When not with his buds a quiet sort & proficient in the lost art of 'being seen & not heard' when in adult company. He's been there & done that (kids' & teens clubs on various lines) & has no interest in it @ this point...can't say i blame him.

My Qs:

1) what is the official age required to use the adult facilities (pool, hot tubs, late night comedy club)?

2) typically, he does accompany us onboard for activities & was planning on just bringing him to the adult comedy show with us (don't want to embarrass him though if he'll be denied entry).

3) Also, wondering if he'd be permitted to see show solo (or visit adult pool area for a bit) if we decide to visit casino/bar late night?

Wellllll since technically your not an adult until age 18 that's the number I would go with...........

techically doesn't = officially

if it's 18 or 21, im good 'wit it, just want to know what the real deal is kwim? you'd think they'd have written policy somewhere (probably is..i just can't find it here or on carnival's site)

Not 100% sure what the "official" age is for the adult pool, hot tub & comedy show~ I think 18 ~ but I would say as long as he's acting normal in the pool/hot tub, no one is going to know or care whether he's 18 or not.

Same with the adult comedy show....they don't check I.D. at the door or anything, so he won't have any problems getting in. The adult shows can get pretty raunchy, so whether you want to be sitting with your son during that is up to you.

The only time my kids were ever asked to show I.D. was in the casino. They can legally be in there at age 18.

3) Also, wondering if he'd be permitted to see show solo (or visit adult pool area for a bit) if we decide to visit casino/bar late night? He can see a show by himself....just not the R rated comedy. Nor the adult pool area. It's 18. He can go in the casino though.

Carnival has changed the FAQ's. It used to be so easy to find the info. Had to hunt for this.

My DD won't be 18 until October. When we cruised last month, she used the adult pool and hot tub...nobody said a word. As long as they look and act mature, they don't get hassled. I'm sure you could get him into the adult comedy show...we didn't try as my daughter would not have liked it...they get REALLY raunchy at times;)

The R rated comedy shows are 18 and up but they don't check IDs. On the Freedom a few weeks ago, during the R rated comedy show, the comedian even asked the crowd how many people were under the age of 18. One teen raised his hand and admitted that he was only 17. The comedian made a joke about it, everyone laughed and the show went on. The kid was not kicked out.

The only time I saw anyone checking ID's was in the casino and when people were buying alcoholic beverages.

I've never seen them check ids, but that doesn't mean it couldn't change. So there could be a chance he could get denied entry, however slim.

3) Also, wondering if he'd be permitted to see show solo (or visit adult pool area for a bit) if we decide to visit casino/bar late night? Not unless he's 18.

For adult pool area, adult comedy show, disco after a certain time, the rule is 18 and up. In reality, I've not seen them check ids for the adult pool, but if he looks young and makes himself noticed, they could ask him to leave. It might be a little too quiet for his taste anyway.

He should not have a issue in the pools, hot tubs or the late night show.

But the clubs at 10PM, I believe, will check his age and card him. If you

not 18 after 10PM some of the clubs will not be open for him.

Drinking age is 21.

This is what it says in the Carnival FAQ

Lounges, shows, and the dance club: Guests under the age of 18 should be accompanied by an adult in all public areas of the ship. Guests under the age of 18 must vacate the dance club by 10:00pm. Guests under the age of 18 may not attend the Midnight Shows, which are "R" rated.

But if you don't mind him being at the show let him go!

On Freedom a couple of weeks ago, no one checked ages, their were several teens on a senior trip in all these areas and the disco. All were well behaved and I agree the comedy show is rated R for a reason, been married 21 years and I think I even blushed once or twice w/hubby. ;) Only the last night back to FLL did we notice they were checking ID's for the disco, maybe because we were closer to US soil? Can the boat be boarded & searched?

thanx, he's the baby of my 3 boys ranging from age 30 down...unfortunately, he's been exposed to grown up stuff longer than i care to admit:o but can hang with the big dogs.

if, for some odd reason, he draws attention to himself, then he deserves to get the boot imo...we'll call it a life lesson;).

i've never taken him into any ship bar except the sports one to watch a game & we sit @ furthest empty table from bar area we can find

I am not one for breaking the rules;) but if I can sneak my 17yo

into the comedy club, then we'll be happy. I don't want to go alone and really doubt

I could talk my wife into going. She can go to the casino and win us

enough money for the next cruise while we are in there having a good time.

I hear it can be pretty raunchy, but this is the age of cable tv. I am

pretty sure it can get worse on tv. I am not saying I approve of it, but

understand it happens.

This was the case on our cruise last May. I'd have to verify with my hubby but I want to say that the kid admitted to being either 15 or 16. He wasn't asked to leave or anything. He ended up catching the brunt of several jokes during the night but he stayed for the entire show.

My son will be 17 yrs 4 months when we cruise in October. Although I would like to enjoy the Serenity deck, I will wait until he's 18 to take him there. As for the comdey shows, he can go when he's over 18, but I don't want to sit by him...too uncomfortable for me.

I'm glad to see most of the responses in this topic. When we cruise in a little over a week, there will be a 17 year old with us with all of her friends on the trip being 18 and up; the nest closest to her age in the other direction is only 12. Last year, we cruised on RCI's Monarch of the Seas and they carded for *everything* they possibly could. We even had one with us turning 18 the week after our cruise, but they wouldn't show any leniency at all. I understand having the guidelines, but, as others have mentioned, if the person is behaving appropriately I see no problem with being somewhat lenient. After all, we've all seen some adults which certainly act far more immature than their years.

Just to note that the age for the Serenity area is 21 and older.

I know I would prefer to have a well-behaved teen in the hot tub with me than a "child acting" adult. Unless they check ID at the show, I wouldn't worry about it--but he probably would not be permitted to go into the casino as I am sure they probably ID anyone who looks younger than a certain age.
