it wont be long Posted June 5, 2010 #1 Share Posted June 5, 2010 Please excuse my ignorance. I'm from the UK and booked to go on an Eastern Caribbean cruise on Allure. Was told by the TA that I needed to check with my doctor to see whether i needed vaccinations. Before booking an appointment I just took a quick look on the internet and now wish i hadn't!!!! Does anyone have the up to date advice for cruisers visiting this region? Thanks so much . All the websites I saw appeared to be alarmist so knew I needed the advice of other more experienced travellers ! Thank you in advance :)
cruisinfanatic Posted June 5, 2010 #2 Share Posted June 5, 2010 Unless it's because you're in the UK, you don't need anything for Caribbean Cruises.
MarkSeattle Posted June 5, 2010 #3 Share Posted June 5, 2010 lol. looking at the internet is dangerous! ;) IMO, everyone should have the Hepatitis A/B vaccinations regardless of travel since they're now available. If your tetanus isn't up to date, might as well do that too; but you probably won't require any vaccinations before going on a carib. cruise, but best to check with your doctor. Lottycruiser Posted June 5, 2010 #4 Share Posted June 5, 2010 I would be interested to know this too , hate having vaccinations but its better to be safe than sorry .
rxmurphy Posted June 5, 2010 #5 Share Posted June 5, 2010 While nothing may be "required" by the cruise line, anyone who plans on eating in any restaurant (on a cruise or land-based, even at home) should be vaccinated against Hep A. Just my opinion.
Blue.Pixie Posted June 5, 2010 #6 Share Posted June 5, 2010 Hi, My Mum is a nurse who works in a GPs surgery (and travel vaccs are a daily routine). She recommends this website; http://www.fitfortravel.nhs.uk/destinations.aspx if you click on your destination, you then need to scroll down to 'immunisations'. Enjoy your cruise!! xhx
sunshine100 Posted June 5, 2010 #7 Share Posted June 5, 2010 the most up to date information is on the CDC website..go to www.cdc.gov/travel and put in your destinations and read about what they recommend.
