QV - casino question

Hello,

I wondered if someone could help regarding a question I have concerning the casino on the Queen Victoria (and QM2 also, for that matter).

Does anyone know how they stop the slot machines from "tilting" in heavy seas, as I do enjoy a flutter and would not like to lose too many dollars because the ship is rolling.

Thankyou in advance for your help.

Hi Wombat34

On both QM2 and QV the casino is relatively low in the ship and, in the case of QM2, in the middle of the ship (on QV it is situated slightly further forward). This position tends to help stability a lot both for rolling and pitching (on QE2 the casino was placed much higher up). Combined with the use of stabilisers which reduce roll, and with QM2 being a very good "sea boat" with a deep draft, rolling is not usually a problem, only in the very roughest of storms (I've never felt either ship roll) . I wouldn't give it another thought.

Hope this helps.

As I recall from a couple of years ago on the QV all the slot machines had video displays, not old fashioned reels, so the ship's movement wont make any difference. I do remember a couple of times winning a few dollars ( 20 or 30 ) and the machine not paying out the full amount, but you just press the "call" button on the machine/next to the machine and someone will be along to sor tit out for you.

They do still pay in coins, which I was suprised at, because we went to Vegas the year before and all you get is a bit of paper with a bar code on it which is printed by the machine when you press the collect button.

I seem to remember it being about half with reels and half with video screens on the QV.

Once on QE2, when there was a little movement, I joked with one of the roulette inspectors, that the captain must have a big lever he pulls to prevent big wins.

She replied "Oh no sir, you're quite wrong. It's all done electronically now."

You could well be right.

You mean he now just presses a button instead of pulling a big lever !!!!
