Last-minute solo deals?

Recommended Posts

Hi - My kids are heading off to college, and I'm in a situation where I could cruise more. Now I'll be able to go at less-busy times, and avoid the summers.

What might be my best strategy? Find a Travel Agent, and tell them to keep me in mind for last minute specials/Good deals? Same thing with Cruise line specialists? (I know I have to find one for each possible cruise line I like.)

Any other suggestions? Any other times of year when cruise ships tend to travel less than full? Fall? Just looking to get a good value, and I will probably be travelling alone. Thanks! Kathy

just about every ship is going to be heavily, heavily discounted when kids are in school-its hard to go wrong. Just go to one of many national travel search engines that you see advertising on TV-which we aren't supposed to mention on here- and put a month and area and you'll have plenty of cheap options. Then you can compare and contrast all the cruise lines on one site. You can use a Travel agent-but you can pretty much investigate on your own. Remember some of the best discounts are Over 55-if that applies-so check that too if it does

  • 2 weeks later...

Call the cruise line directly. Their reservation # is on the web site. Sign up for their email service. Right now Princess has a 12 day, at $699 balcony, in europe June 26th. If you can travel within 2 week time frame (better for airfare) see what they have last minute. My last cruise on Costa was booked with a 10 day window, and a Suite for 599pp took my sis on that one.

Take advantage of the Travel Agents for brochures. Ive been booking my cruises direct for 10 years. Reservations is always nice, especially if you are a past passenger.

Enjoy your travel

Opps forgot, less full/cheaper when they first return to florida, if thinking the carribean, November other than Thanksgiving, first two weeks of December, and first two weeks of January.
