we are on the spirit in 2 weeks. We have a tour with Dyea dave until about 3pm. Does anyone know of any late afternoon excursions? We'll be in port until 9pm, but it seems like all excursions start before 1pm.

Thanks for the help.

We went with Dyea Dave to Emerald Lake a couple of weeks ago -- it was great! The scenery is beautiful, his stories are informative, and we had 7 bear sightings (plus a porcupine).

The tour is listed as 6 hours but with so much wildlife to see and folks to drop/pickup at the train, ours was over 9 (very enjoyable) hours.

Since Dave doesn't have a set itinerary and lets the events of the day and wishes of his passengers dictate the pace, you may not be back into town as early as you think. (Dave knew exactly when everyone's ship was scheduled to sail and we were back several hours before the first one left so there was no worry about missing our ship.)

The recommendations that you include the train are very good ones -- why not train one way and go with Dave the other? He facilitates that everyday and knows the ins and outs, whens and wheres. And you wouldn't have to worry about getting back to Skagway by a certain time.

Which ever options you choose, go with Dave -- you'll have a great experience.
