Review of Pride?

icon1.gifReview or comments re: Pride....what is she like?

We are considering a trip on the Pride this summer in Asia. We are not familiar with the ship, and would love to hear a review of comments from those who know her or are familiar with her sister ships. We have not sailed Seaborn before, but are intrigued. Any info from experienced Pride passengers would be appreciated.

We are familiar with the SS product, and are experienced cruisers. We are interested in trying Seaborn but would like to know about the ship, her condition, and the entire experience from those familiar with her.

Thanks in advance...

We have been on all three sisters. The Pride and The Spirit are of the same mold - only some the venue rooms may have different names. The Legend is very much like the other 2 with the main difference being one sink in the bathroom rather than 2 sinks. To me it is no big deal as it is the service that outshines the product of Seabourn. We started our cruising on this line with the Spirit - a 28 day trip - and soon became a convert. True, Spirit holds a special place in my heart but our other trips on Pride and Legend have been just as outstanding.

In fact we are leaving on an Asia trip - Kobe to Shanghai on the 23 July on the Pride and looking forward to this because of the stops in Japan and Korea. Our previous Asia trip was on the Spirit from Hong Kong to Mumbai a few years ago. We loved the Vietnam portion and have always wanted to return. In October of this year we are venturing out on AMA waterways on their new ship for a 15 day trip returning to Vietnam, going on to Cambodia and then getting on their ship for a 7 day river cruise from Siem Reap down to Saigon with a 3 day extension in HCM (Saigon.)

Upon my return, I hope to share with you some of the experiences of our Pride trip.

I see you have traveled SS and we are going for our very first adventure with them in February, 2011 from Capetown to Capetown. We loved the itent. and decided to give it a try. We just finalized our air with going early for a 5 day safari and then extend in Capetown at the end of the cruise. I am excited about trying SS and going to these ports.

Thank you for sharing your review and pictures, esp. the ones of the ship! We had read a CC post that some of the Seaborn ships were looking shabby and we were concerned about that.

We were on the Pride in December for a Vietnam cruise. Had not sailed with Seabourn before and were very pleased. Everyone was very friendly. Loved the Host Tables at dinner. We met great people. The ship went into dry dock approximately two weeks after our cruise and the "after" pictures make her look stunning. We loved our large window suite. (would not spend more for a French Veranda, since the weather was either too warm or cold...we did not miss.) The Sky Bar was wonderful. A super place to watch the sail away in each port. Nicely stocked library. However, just got an ipad; so think those days are over. Good dancing, trivia, lectures. Our only negative immediately after our cruise, was we thought the ship was a bit too small, with only 200 passengers. Now six months later, we are reevaluating our opinion. We'll be back.

The Pride and the Spirit have both undergone extensive renovations, especially in the restaurant, Club and Observation Lounge. The Legend is due to go in in October. What you have to remember most of all is the size of these ships which is smaller than even the Cloud and Wind on SS. That is what, imo, makes them so attractive. The service and ambience really gives you the feel of being on a yacht rather than on a ship.

Did you not find any posts from recent cruisers who stated the Pride offered a good experience? You can find negative posts about any ship on the seven seas of the Cruise Critic if you look hard enough ... perhaps a lunch plate was not carried, a pair of sunglasses were not shined or a luggage tag was not delivered.

So take a couple of sips ... is your glass half-empty or half-full?

Hi we sailed on seabourn pride in feb 2010 around asia (singapore-hong kong) I cannot speak highly enough of the staff and officers aboard this ship. The service was second to none and the food was fantastic. Everyone was warm and friendly, the suites were extremely comfortable and of course the ship has been refurbished recently. You will not be dissapointed with your choice and I am extremely envious of you. Highlight of the cruise the Beach BBQ and champagne and caviar on Koh Kood. Have fun...cheers Dilbert22

We have just come off the Pride, HK to Beijing, loved every minute -except the ones when I was seasick:mad:

I can't praise the staff and service enough, it really is exceptional and they go to a tremendous effort to really enhance your overall experience. Yes the boat is a bit older but this is barely noticeable, perhaps just the bathrooms if you want to be picky. With only 200 people it is quite cosy and we requested "no invites" we have jobs that involve a lot of socialising so time together was important for us. That said by the end we really did enjoy the company of the people we met on board so did dine with others.

Destinations, sailing out of HK was amazing, docking right in the middle of Shanghai another high point. I believe Taiwan has never worked out due to issues between the Chinese and Taiwanese so we were were a little disappointed. We probably did the least inspiring segment of the Asia options but it's what was available to us with our timeframe.

Overall it was a fantastic experience, it was our first SB cruise and I really hope it won't be the last.
