Visiting Rome at Easter

I posted this on a roll call but may have been in the wrong spot. We would REALLY like to book the Marina 4-26-11 Rome to Venice. That would have us in Rome pre-cruise for Easter weekend when the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel are closed for Sunday & Monday. We are also concerned about the possiblilty of large crowds throughout the city. Has anyone had the experience of Easter in Rome? Maybe we are wringing our hands over nothing. Thanking you all in advance for responding.

Was in Rome over Easter a few years ago. Its nothing to worry about and yes it is busy. But then I have been to Rome a number of times and dont remember it ever being otherwise. If I remember correctly we visited the vatican museum on good friday and was amazed and how few people were there - I think they were all in the basilica
