Single Supplement

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had the single Supplement waived or reduced for a RC cruise? I am interested in the 9/24/2004 Grandeur 10 night out of Baltimore but all my treveling partners (husband, son, sister) can't swing it.

I've never heard of the single supplement being waived. It's usually about 150% - 200% of your cruise rate (not port and taxes). It may depend on the time of year you're sailing, how full the ship may be, and your cabin category. Call RCI and ask them. 1-800-327-6700.

Also, it's possible that using an online internet agency, you will pay a lesser rate. I am sailing solo on HAL this month(booked it in March) and I am only paying 100%, in fact, my rate was so good it is less than some double occupancy rates...morale of the story, shop around. Hope it works out for you to go. This is my first solo cruise, and I can't wait.

Marie,
Please email me at PJnVA14@hotmail.com with your online agents web address or email. I also use on online agency and I have emailed my agent that I no longer have a traveling partner to see if she can get the single supplement waived. If she can not I will contact yours.
Thanx for posting
PJ

HAL offers a "guaranteed single share" program, where you pay the regular double rate as a single. You could end up with a same-sex roomate (or not), and have to book above a certain category. I've done it a couple of times on HAL, and never had a roomate. Got a good rate, and excellent cruises! You can call HAL at 1-800- 426-0327.

Doesn't RCL offer a free matchup with another single to share your cabin? Some lines do. I have never done it but when I was in Air Force it happened sometimes and one had no chice. Never had a problem. I am sure they match sexes though. I have known some who did that wih no problem.
I would hate to pay a big single supplement when I was the only one in the cabin.

Also, I think that Seabourn has low single supplement rates. BUT their basic rate is very rich. I see that previous poster states that HAL does a match-up.

PJ - You have mail!

Yes, HAL does have the single share program. In my case, for this particular cruise, I was able to find a rate for hundreds of dollors less HAVING MY OWN ROOM, than was quoted for the single share.

When sailing are not selling well, RCI will offer greatly reduced or eliminated single supplements.. but those decisions are usually closer in to the cruise. I suggest you check out a website called yourowncabin

Also every week they release something called the "happy hour" specials, and these almost always feature 150% single rates.. and as a single cruiser, 150% is pretty darn good for a non-luxury line.

Good luck!

Oh no. I will retype. My computer died yesterday and am on dh's computer, so I can't access my sent mail. Look for it soon. I thought it was odd that I didn't hear back from you but didn't think much of it. What did your TA have to say? Mattinla is right about the Happy Hour specials. They are typically 150%. Your TA should have the information on Monday's, what the special is for the next day.
