Umbria lover Posted June 16, 2010 #1 Share Posted June 16, 2010 We'll be in Barcelona on Wed, Nov 3rd. On Saturday, Nov 5, or maybe Sunday the 6th, the Pope will be in town to dedicate the church. Does anyone have any idea how this might impact us? Or how we might get more information??? Thanks for any ideas!
bethaniesmom Posted June 16, 2010 #2 Share Posted June 16, 2010 let's just say I am glad we won't be there until the 13th! But seriously...I would expect maybe some hotels will be full that whole week and probably tighter security at the airport and definitely at the Cathedral. Have a great trip! 2nutz4travel Posted June 16, 2010 #3 Share Posted June 16, 2010 The consecration is due to take place on Sun, Nov 7. That's all I know...:( If anyone has any more info, please share. We arrive on the 6th and our cruise departs on the 7th, so this visit will definitely impact us
April7901 Posted June 18, 2010 #4 Share Posted June 18, 2010 There'll be a TON of people - however, keep in mind that Barcelona hosted the Olympics. They are used to extraordinary crowds and will be equipped to deal with it. However, the site isn't exactly close to the port. Unless you have a dire interest in being part of the crowd, just avoid LSF that day and you should be fine. I cannot imagine any trouble with taxis, though you might allow some extra travel time just in case.
