My comment was geared towards that last sentence on your post..

I would be bummed out too if I didnt get a credit and others did.....no,I'd be HOT!:mad:

Oh, gotcha. Yep, I would be to. I would still like to know how everyone interprets footnote #13 on the C&A new benefits page............

Stateroom upgrades available on cruise vacations of 5 nights or longer based on availability within 14 days of departure date. Offer varies by ship and sail dates with certain restrictions. Im confused by it too.....

say you book Jan 1st for $1000

I book June 1st for $1500

WHO gets the upgrade?(assuming we both have the same amount of credits)

You booked first,but I paid more..:confused::confused:

I've wondered this all along. And I've come to the conclusion that this is the reasoning they will use to explain it away when someone complains about not receiving the upgrade. So....let's say you BOTH are D+ and booked at $1000. And the D comes along and pays $1500 a month prior to sailing. THEY might get the upgrade...too bad for the two D+.

This basically allows them to call who they want, when they want, in any order they want. Plain and simple......NOT!

The ORIGINAL fare....hmmm...this could explain my jump from D1 to GS around the horn. My "original" fair was $2500 a person. After repeated upgrades my final fare was $917 a person. So, that would be an advantage to booking at the highest price possible knowing that during some seasons, the price will drastically go down. Makes sense. LOL OK, so it doesn't make sense.

But the upgrades are for DP,not D..

That's not necessarily the final answer. Granted, Miami corporate probably has your "check-in category" in their system, but you can get it changed.

Last year, we upgraded on the ship after checking in from a D2 to the Royal Family Suite on the Radiance OTS for $500 total (sweet deal, pun intended - that made the cost for the two of us $3,200 for the RFS on a 16-night South America cruise. I don't expect to ever see that good a deal again). After we got back, I called C&A and they had me fax the receipt for the upgrade to them and we got the extra credit.

I'm thinking a paid upgrade on the ship is treated differently than a free upgrade because of cabin issues. It would be wrong to NOT get the extra credit if you pay for it at any point.

The only reason I posted what I did was because a friend of ours who lives in CA and cruises on Mariner quite a bit was upgraded earlier this year. Kathy, I think you know who it is.

When their cruise credits were listed they were not given the extra credit for the suite that they were upgraded to.

When she called C&A said that you do not get credit when upgraded to a suites, you have to pay for them.

I have also talked to C&A D+ desk and have been given this same information on several occasions. I personally think that they should stick to this policy.

SO, not only are they not consistent among the ships............the inconsistency is also very apparent among the reps.:(

Never believe a rep. We know that now, don't we. ;)

If someone doesn't get their extra credit from an upgrade, that may very well be the error. And then the rep is just brushing it off as an avoidance tactic.

Does anyone else think that the more RCI tries to clarify things and the more they change things, the more they confuse people?

They want to do that so that they can answer the question the way they want to at the time.

Go to the chart at the crown and anchor society benefits page. Look at the last item under cruise planning benefits. You will see "Complimentary space-available stateroom upgrades" listed for both D and D+.

There is more detail on the diamond members written info somewhere.

does that mean DP gets called first(21 days out) then D gets called 14 days out??

WOW! The list changes when I log it. So, why do they have a different list depending on whether we are logged in or not? I now have a 15 and 16 and more and the one I first mentioned is NOT at the bottom of the list as it was in the non-logged in page.

Since both paragraphs include "cruise credits" in the priority criteria, it would be logical (but logic and RCL are complete strangers :D ) to think all D+ would be offered upgrades until the D+ list is exhausted and then the D's would be offered. Especially since the Diamond paragraph adds tier level. All D+ would come ahead of D before starting at the credit level for tie breakers.

The "jailhouse lawyer" (don't ask) in me says they would take them in the order listed so time of booking would trump fare paid.

But it hasn't been this way in the past. I was a very new D+ when I got a call 3 weeks before sailing when I got an upgrade. It appeared I may have been the first one called. Maybe the list was upside down.

According to what I read on the website, D's are eligible for upgrades now as well.

Uh, wasn't that benefits list tweaked a bit relative to upgrades since first published?? I could have sworn that the upgrade thing was listed twice, with the 2nd time under D+ only and inferring that the D+ cruiser could actively persue an upgrade at 14 days out. I don't have a copy of the list when 1st published, but I recently received my new D+ member packet. In the fine print on that one (which shows only D+ benefits) it states: "..........subject to availability within 14 days of departure. Diamond Plus members and their travel agents can contact a Loyalty Specialist within that timeframe if upgrade is available. To be transferred directly......". I certainly will be checking room availablity and calling next time, not waiting to be called.

Question - are any of the new benefits: restaurant, photo, laundry, internet etc., per stateroom, or are they all per coupon book?

Wow, after reading some of the recent posts - there are two different benefit lists, depending on whether or not you are logged into C&A. Interesting, on the C&A list, the Ds get a "complimentary space-available upgrade", while for D+s it reads just "complimentary upgrade".

Is there a real difference in meaning between these?
