Bowie MeMe Posted June 24, 2010 #51 Share Posted June 24, 2010 Me too. Wherever I put something in the zipper compartment it takes forever to find it again. Nylon bags are the way to go. For jewlery I save the little cloth bags that an accessory store gives out and each necklace and ear rings go in a little cloth bag and the cloth bags go in a cosmetic bag. Am I getting anal in my old age. Librarians just have to do a Dewey (classification) on everything.
michelle1836 Posted June 24, 2010 #52 Share Posted June 24, 2010 I did forget that, on the one leg of the trip with EasyJet (only ONE bag allowed as carryon - no exceptions), I put my camera - a Nikon D40 with the 18-200mm lens on it in that bag along with my other goodies AND my purse. So, it is pretty darn cavernous. For those who want to look at the bag, go to: www.patagonia.com/web/us/product/patagonia-lightweight-travel-tote-bag?p=48806-0-739 I am a backpack person because I like the straps on both shoulders to even out the weight. I really like this one!
slidergirl Posted June 25, 2010 #53 Share Posted June 25, 2010 The straps on the Patagonia were surprisingly good to my shoulders. And, they were very easy to unsnap and put in their little hiding spot (which was also good for putting a magazine or two). I'm going to use it this weekend at work when I have a 9 hour shift alone - I'll pack my netbook, my iTouch, Tivoli Song Book (a very nice radio w/mp3 hookup), Kindle 2, my 40 oz water bottle, and enough food and snacks to get me through the shift... starwhite2 Posted September 15, 2010 #54 Share Posted September 15, 2010 All these posts on bags are making me baggy-buggy eyed:eek:. Great thread. I am going on a Med. cruise in Nov. and striking off on my own (with friend) in Barcelona, Tarragona, Florence, Rome, Naples and Mallorca (not so bad security wise - going across the island from Palma.) In late January going on a land tour of Egypt and Jordan with a group but I'll be on my own a little in Luxor and Cairo. I want the safest purse possible but it has to fit a lot in. Someone mentioned 15L as being her requirement. The website for Pacsafe doesn't mention the difference in internal size between the 200 and 300 - does anybody know? I need a shoulder bag. 5326jan Posted September 18, 2010 #55 Share Posted September 18, 2010 We are not all that worried about security although perhaps we should be. To keep a bag zipped up I'll sometimes use a small carabiner that has a twist lock like this one. If we check bags we might use a cord tie to keep the zippers closed. If security needs to open our bags they can just cut the plastic tie off. After being pick pocketed in Rome, I always use this nifty device! You can pick them up at target in a package of 2 for around $5. They aren't the fancy ones like this, but do the trick!
