sharkattack Posted June 22, 2010 #1 Share Posted June 22, 2010  Despite asking for late sitting have been allocated early sitting and told we have been wait listed for late sitting on Oceana. What does this mean in reality? Can we eat at any time in some areas and if we want to sit down are fixed to 6pm or is there a good chance we will get an 8.30pm option on most nights? Totally new at this so any information would be appreciated. We don't want to eat at 6pm every night.
Traveler353 Posted June 22, 2010 #2 Share Posted June 22, 2010 Welcome to CC. It means that they have more request for late seating than they have seats. If you still want confirmed seating for that time you will have to wait until you get on board and talk to the MD. There is usualy a period set aside after boarding for passangers to go the the MDR and talk to the MD. If he has seats he will try to seat you at that time. paul929207 Posted June 22, 2010 #3 Share Posted June 22, 2010 The dining room on your ship can hold a little more than half the passengers. As people make reservations, they choose either early or late seating. At some point one of the dining options becomes full. At that time, additional passengers are put into the seating that still has room. Those who want the full option are waitlisted for it. If people cancel, the top people on the waitlist are moved to their choice.
DonnaK Posted June 22, 2010 #4 Share Posted June 22, 2010 How far away is the cruise? Sometimes things are waitlisted, but then after final payment (2-3 months out) people drop their reservation and those things open up. If this does not apply to you, then try to see the maitre-d upon boarding, as the other poster suggested. Also, repost your question on the forum that's specific for your particular cruise line so others who are more experienced with that line/ship can give you the best advice.
