Formal? Is that in all restaurants?

I'm thinking of booking a cruise on the Oceana. I've looked it up on-line and there are 4 formal and 10 smart casual nights. Does this mean that on the formal nights, formal attire is required dress in all the eating areas onboard? I could get my husband into a suit for 1 or 2 nights, but 4 is pushing it. He can do a nice 'smart-casual.

Are there any casual eating places to go to on formal nights or is it a case of suit or starve?

Your lucky you haven't got semi formal nights as well instead of all those smart casual nights.then its a jacket and trousers for man although a tie need not be worn on them.:)

Look put it another way you have 10 CASUAL NIGHTS and just 2 formals per week, look on it as a chance to dress up, the gala menus in the main restaurant are always one notch better on a formal night , most men will be in tux but a suit and tie is fine. It would be a shame to miss the lovely 5 course waiter served meal ,
