(With comments on problems) – Yes, very quiet, except for the room above with kids jumping off beds at all hours, till my husband got up on a chair and pounded on the ceiling! Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – No obstructions. Entrance to balcony has a ramp so if door is not opened completely you could trip since ramp folds upward when door is closed and lays flat when opened completely. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Oversized, as room is on side of hump. Very large, slightly angled Was wind a problem? - No If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A Any specific problems with this cabin? - We had a problem with the A/C. Room was overly humid and warm. I called maintenance about 5 times during the cruise who said the room was cool on their monitors (?) but it was not. We had guests who also complained, actually saying, "Is it me, or is this room very warm?" In order to keep the room livable we had to keep drapes closed. They would fix the a/c it would work for 24 hrs then back to the heat. We had the JS next door on a prior cruise just 10 mos earlier and the a/c was wonderful. I also think having to keep the drapes closed cancels out the advantage of having a balcony room. Any other comments? - We had smokers in the room next door who would smoke on the balcony. We did report it and didn't have anymore problems. Went to store our luggage under the bed and found "clean" linen under the bed in open, unzipped plastic bags. Room steward said yes, they use those linens! Bed skirts on the beds were loose and falling off looking tacky and making the beds uninviting. Mattresses were uncomfortable with dips and bumps even with an eggcrate. Room steward was barely visible and did just what was required. We left notes for more ice and he'd only leave 1/2 bucket although we had wine and asked for that to be full. None of this ruined our cruise but the room was not as comfortable as it should have been and it actually looked like a cheap motel. I would not book this room again. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? -No Was wind a problem? -No If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? -forward cabin Any specific problems with this cabin? - Cabin was nice. Kids bunks were directly above ours with just an open center of about 2.5 feet over our bed. No bed privacy. Still a decent amount of room near sofa for changing. Any other comments? - Since it's a forward cabin and most things/meals occur in aft there is a lot of walking up to the 4th floor (outside) or 5th Fl Promenade to cross over to the back of the ship. We crossed through 4th floor casino once but it was way too smokey for kids to walk through

(With comments on problems) – Yes, very few passers by as aft. However, on the deck below some people were playing on an open area - not sure they were meant to be there though, it appears they had climbed over their balconies. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? -No Balcony View - Lovely view out, slightly more shaded. There is some ship structure within view, but we didn't find it a problem. You get a good view of the wake, but to see any land you need to stand at the front of the balcony and look across adjoining rooms. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Lovely large balcony. Was wind a problem? -No If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - Didn't notice any Any specific problems with this cabin? - No Any other comments? - We were on a short 4 day cruise and decided to try an aft cabin. The cabin was fine, you feel more ship movement. The balcony is quite big and has more shade than we have previously experienced on RC cruises. No sure whether I'd opt for aft again, unless I can get one on the corner.

TheInnocentAge Posted September 26, 2014 #486 Share Posted September 26, 2014 Ship - Vision of the Seas Deck - 8 Stateroom # - 8088 Stateroom Category – JS Starboard or Port Side - Port (aft corner cabin) Quiet Stateroom? – Very quiet. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No. Balcony View - Our view was incredible, as this cabin has a wrap-around balcony, so you have a portside view as well as the aft view. Great views of the wake. No obstructions whatsoever. Balcony Size? - This cabin has a huge balcony. I had a chance to step onto another JS balcony on this ship, and it didn't compare in size to ours. Area-wise, I would estimate that it is three to four times the size of the other JS balconies. I believe that 8088 and 8588 are the only JS balconies like this on the Vision. With the multi-directional views, you have almost a 270 degree range of vision. We had several hours of sun each day, and the balcony is large enough that it also has shaded areas as well. Was wind a problem? - Hardly any wind at all. If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - No soot. Any specific problems with this cabin? - No problems. Any other comments? - This is a nice sized cabin with a full-sized tub and shower. I would book it again in a heartbeat. The cabin is located at the very back of the ship and not near any elevators, so keep that in mind for anyone who may be mobility-challenged. There are speaks mounted on the 7th floor for anything happening on the 4th floor in the Centrum area. We would close the fire doors from the hallway to the business center, but you still could hear some of the noise. On the good side of it, all the music would stop by 11 or 12 every night. Explorer balconies are all "in hull" though so they don't have a really open feel. Balcony Size? - Normal for class. This is the farthest forward balcony room on 9 Starboard. The rooms farther forward were oceanview rooms. There was a solid balcony divider between the balcony and the oceanview room next door, so you could not see the front of the ship without leaning over the railing.
