WillieD13 Posted June 29, 2010 #1 Share Posted June 29, 2010 The ship offers a light tackle, Bonefishing excursion, but I'd rather not spend $207. Is it legal to bring one's own equipment and fish off the shore? Is it worth the effort? Does it require a license/permit, and if so where does one get it and for how much? Or am I better off just sticking to snorkeling?
WillieD13 Posted July 3, 2010 Author #2 Share Posted July 3, 2010 From the lack of replies, I gather not many people here are fisherman, or at least not on cruises.
momfor2girls Posted July 4, 2010 #3 Share Posted July 4, 2010 We are planning on going to Grand Turk next year and my husband is a fisherman. He has already asked if he could take his rod and fish as the ship was sailing(haha, of course he was just kidding). I would like to know if he can take a rod and if he would require a licenses as well, if anyone can help out with this it would be great.
day-day Posted July 6, 2010 #4 Share Posted July 6, 2010 I saw some folks with rod and reels when I was at Grand Turk. They looked like they may have come from the cruise ship but they were walking along the beach by the time I saw them. This website has information on fishing license for Turks and Caicos Islands including phone numbers and an email address. Looks like $10 for a one-day visitors license. FISHERMAN1158 Posted April 26, 2017 #11 Share Posted April 26, 2017 I will also be going to cruise this June and wondering if it's still current information regarding fishing on the beach and Do I still need to purchase a fishing license? Help...
Rare crewsweeper Posted April 26, 2017 #12 Share Posted April 26, 2017 Screaming Reels site should still be up. Probably the best guides, but you'll need a group. Similarly, Papa J, who launches a smaller craft from the beach. Personally I think fishing along the beach at the cruise port would be a waste of time. You might head east toward Boaby Point and find a spot. Governors Beach and the small beach on the other side of that could have some fish in the shallows. But that's just a guess on my part.
