kpercy Posted July 2, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 2, 2010 A couple of days ago I received an email from Silversea offering 3 cruises for July sailings. It was a fantastic deal. We booked Silver Spirit 31st July Rome to Venice 7 nights. Prices started at £1695 compared to £3100 on line. We booked a midship veranda ( lots of availability ) suite 636 for £2095 inc port charges. Online price was £3500. Can anyone advise on transfers from Rome airport to the port and equally from Venice to the airport. Thinking od doing this privately. unfathomable Posted July 2, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 2, 2010 Rome airport to port should be a painless taxi along the coast -- 30-40 minutes. Venice port to airport: depends where the ship is, but assuming San Basilio -- not sure this will work with San Basilio and you may be around the corner at the larger cruise port -- you have three choices: (1) expensive but very convenient water taxi, which maybe you could share with another couple, about EUR 95, and a good view; (2) schlep your bags about 200 yards to the airport water bus stop, considerably cheaper, but with more limited views (for both (1) and (2) you have about 400 yards from the pier at the airport to check-in, but there should be baggage carts available at that end); or (3) I think there is a land route, but not sure how that works. There is good guidance online for the airport water buses. Try http://europeforvisitors.com/venice/articles/venice_airport_boat.htm
