Back to Back "between" day

Recommended Posts

On the "between" day in a U.S. port can you get off the ship early and then get back on before sailing and enjoy the entire day in port? If so, how do you deal with immigration/customs? Also how do you get your new SetSail room card, before you leave the ship or on your return?

To further complicate the issue we are talking about non-U.S. citizens.

Thanks,

Remember that each ship can be different, and it is up to the Port Authorities on how turn around day is handled.

You will get a letter in your cabin midway through the first week with instructions on where to meet to review and get instructions for turn around day.

New SeaPass cards are issued either the night before or the morning of. Since you are "in transit" you may not need to go through C&I, but again, each port is different.

If you want to disembark the ship on turnaround day, just make sure you have your new SeaPass cards with you. On some ships, they will give you a card that says "in transit" and this card will alert the reps in the terminal that you are a consecutive cruiser and therefore have been already checked in.

That being the case, is anyone familiar specifically with Oasis at Fort Lauderdale and their procedures?

Thanks,

From the Oasis forum, where a passenger reported on his B2B on the Oasis:

"DW got her ice cream, and we were on our way to the Consecutive Cruisers’ Meeting. There are 149 back-to-backers on the ship this week! They gave us some info about what our options are for tomorrow. We do have to leave the ship, go through customs, and come right back on the ship. They said they would accompany us throughout whole process. They offered us lunch in the dining room, just for us, at 11:30. Hey, that’s my favorite dining venue! DW and I will be there!

At the meeting, they gave us an opportunity to reserve shows and dining - we already had taken care of that - and, they told us the headliner for next week will be Kenny James. Who is Kenny James? Well, they said he won Star Search 13 consecutive weeks - supposed to be a terrific singer. Will report on him after we see him."

"Yesterday morning started our second week! Happened to be on the Promenade watching the people coming in via the gangway - felt like a veteran!

The day started with a rude awakening - they wanted to check our mini bar…at 6:30 am…knock, knock, knock. DW told them to come back later! They start disembarkation early, but they should have known we weren’t leaving! Did not, I repeat, did not ruin my cruise! Just couldn’t get back to sleep - neither one of us! It’s so wonderful…I don’t know what could ruin my cruise!

We had to meet at 9:30 in the MDR deck 3 with the other consecutive cruisers. They escorted us off the ship, through Customs, and back on the ship. The whole process took about ½ hour. Because there were so many of us, they had a private lunch for us in the MDR at 11:30. Limited choices, but we like MDR food!"

"Is back-to-back worth it? We’re on day 2 of the second week, and we’ve already done a couple of things that we didn’t do last week. Plain and simple…it’s wonderful to be here!"

You should be able to leave with the walk offs. You will scan off with your old card, scan on with your new card. You will still have to go thru security but they should have an in-transit way on.

Leaving with the walk-offs is not always possible. You must follow the instructions given to you mid-way through the cruise.

If you do disembark, and are given an in-transit card, you board with all the new pax.......there is no special line.
