altalee Posted June 8, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 8, 2004 When I booked my cruise this was offered and i went for ita. I assume it means that the minimum suggested tip is covered, is this true? I also figure anything I tip is above and beyond what they suggest. Do the staff have a way of knowing who prepays the tipps? I dont want my room stewerd thinking Im cheap and being pissy but I also dont want to go way overboard on tips. Advice??? rjg41 Posted June 8, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 8, 2004 What we experienced on Navigator was not "pre-paid". We went to the customer service desk and filled out a form. Standard tips were added to the room charge and we were given vouchers with envelopes for each person. We added cash to any envelope for the extra tips and presented them to each person. cruise'n Posted June 8, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 8, 2004 Our tips were not "pre-paid" but when we were on the Mariner in April, we went to the pursers desk (I think) and the recomended tip amout was added to our on board account. We were given vouchers and envelopes for each person and we added cash to the envelopes we thought should have extra. We gave them out at the same time as the people that did not take advantage of the vouchers. It was very easy. Auroraknights Posted June 8, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 8, 2004 Hmmm i am curious about this too. I have prepaid the tips when I booked my cruise. Will we receive vouchures to add to staff envelopes at the end of the cruise for tipping? krosmon Posted June 8, 2004 #5 Share Posted June 8, 2004 The tips go into a pot and are charged to your cabin - I don't think they know who pays how much. On NCL, if I really liked a steward, etc., I just gave them additional money. So much eaier that way, but in the long run, the staff really makes a lot less. DFritz Posted June 8, 2004 #6 Share Posted June 8, 2004 On the Navigator we pre-paid before we left home and on the night they deliver the tip envelopes they also delivered our vouchers that basically said that this individual tipped this amount.....sort of like a gift certificate. Auroraknights Posted June 8, 2004 #7 Share Posted June 8, 2004 Thank you DFritz. I assumed that something like that would happen. I will keep and eye out for the vouchures on the last night then. Thanks for confirming that for me Roll call Vision Nov28/04 click here
