Rome to Florence train costs

Hi everyone,

Can someone tell me who recently took the train from Rome to Florence or vice versa, and bought their ticket at the station, how much it cost them? I just would like to know what it costs since I cannot buy my tickets on the trenitalia website because, as you all know, they wont take american credit cards. I know without any booking in advance disounts, it costs 44 euros on their site. Is it 44 euros at the station? Or is it more or less?

Trying to figure out if it is cheaper for my family to use a third party site such as rail europe, or to just wait and pay what it costs at the station.

Thanks in advance.

Buying in person at the station (or a travel agent) will be the same price as shown on the web.

For 2nd class:

ES (the fast trains): 44 euros

IC (semi-fast trains): 28 euros

Regional (slow trains): 16.10 euros

Rail Europe is ALWAYS going to be more expensive.
