jenhclec Posted July 21, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 21, 2010 I am sailing on Carnival Glory on 7/31 to St. John's and Halifax. What is the weather like at this time of year in Canada? Short sleeve/shorts or long sleeve/jeans, and do I need sweater and jackets? Please consider that I am from NY (which is 90F very hot right now) and we do plan to walk around the cities by ourselves when in port.
MonaCD Posted July 21, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 21, 2010 It's hard to predict what the weather will be like, it can be 80 degrees one minute and a fog could roll in and the temps can drop 15 degrees or more. It's generally warm during the day 70 - 80+ and usually cools off nicely in the evening. We are currently experiencing a bit of hot, muggy weather here in Halifax. The last couple weeks the temps reached low to mid 80s but with the humidity it feels more like 90s. You might just feel like you're in the caribbean (or NYC)! You can keep track of the weather forecasts for Halifax here http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/forec...l?ns-40&unit=i and Saint John here http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/forec...l?nb-23&unit=i ] It's been foggy most days the last couple weeks but the water has warmed considerably, therefore not so much fog now. Because the temps can vary so much, I suggest you bring at least one light long sleeved sweater and one pair of long pants. here's the webcam on the pier where the cruise ships dock http://www.novascotiawebcams.com/halifax/pier-21.html#axzz0uL9xtzL1 The Glory was there yesterday. St John's (Newfoundland) can be cold and foggy any time of year, luckily you're going to St John (New Brunswick, no 's); which should be quite nice this time of year. http://theweathernetwork.com/ has full forecasts and historical data for all Canadian cities.
