Transportation from Livorno (Florence port) to Lucca?

Our cruise offers transportation to and a tour of Lucca for $99 but I would prefer to do it on our own. Can anyone recommend a form of transportation that could get us from the port of Livorno to Lucca and then back later in the day at our own discretion? How far of a drive it is? Thanks!
