I am going with my family(25 of us) to the Western Caribbean on July 5th on Miracle. I am quite confused on some stuff on the cruise. Are sodas free or do they need to be paid for? Also, How much money is absolutely necesary to bring? as in tips, etc. I plan on bringing quite a bit of money but mainly for gifts. I would appreciate any help, and I am sorry if I upset anyone posting this, I looked around the boards but didnt find everything I needed to know, Thanks for the help again!

The sodas are not free. You can purchase a soda card for about $30 for unlimited drinks for each person. In the lido resteraunt there is free coffee, tea, juices and water. Your tips are automatically charged to your Sail & Sign card. If you feel that you had exceptional service, you can give an extra tip to your wait staff and room steward. The only place cash is accepted on the ship is for bingo and in the casino. Any purchases made in the gift shops will be with your S&S card. You will have to estimate how much you are willing to spend in each port for your gifts.

Bigscrb15 - WELCOME!!! We are on the 7/3/05 Miracle cruise as well!!! If you check the roll call board (you'll need to search by date) you'll see you are the 4th person on this board on that cruise!

As for your questions...

sodas (as well as alcohol)... are not free, and must be paid for. I'm traveling with 3 kids and plan on getting each one a soda card. Hey, it's vacation, if they want to fill up on soda for 1 week, I can handle that (I think).

Tips... $70/person will be added to your S&S card automatically. It's then up to you if you feel you should tip extra. You can also go to the pusers desk at the end of the cruise and ask that your tips be adjusted.

How much money to bring.. Really depends. We are a family of 5, and I plan on bringing about $1000 Cash, and my credit card. I, by nature, usually bring to much stuff (clothes, money, etc) But I like to be prepared.

So, again welcome, and stop by the roll call board and introduce yourself!!!

Wow! I appreciate the quick response I am a veteran on lots of forums and newbies are usually frowned upon but I feel very welcome here. I plan on bringing $300 cash and have plenty on my bank card. I think I should be ok with that. Are there any ATM'S onboard?

Dont count on the ATM'S they usually run out of money by mid-week and arent refilled. Also, there is a $5 transaction fee plus whatever you bank charges. I bring travellers cheques that can be cashed at the pursers desk or in the casino. Also in the casino you can get cash, but there is a 3% fee for each Sail and Sign transaction.
