Gordo Posted July 24, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 24, 2010 Hello - we are planning for a 5 night cruise out of Fort Lauderdale in December and would like to fly in the day before the ship departs. Since we are planning to just take carry-ons, we are looking for a nice hotel with pool that is close to a store where we can buy sun tan lotion and a small bottle of booze for a night cap in our room. It would be nice if the hotel was near a nice restaurant for dinner. Thanks for your help.
huxlemo Posted July 24, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 24, 2010 We stay at the Hyatt Place near the airport. I got a great rate at http://www.valuetrips.com. There is a plaza next to the hotel that has a Publix grocery store and a Total Wine liquor store. There are a bunch of other stores too. There is an Outback Steakhouse in the same parking lot as the hotel. Other restaurants are within walking distance. We are staying there again tonight as we leave out of Port Everglades in the morning. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are like suites. Free shuttles from the airport and to the cruise port. Free continental breakfast in the morning. I got the room for $89/night. Good deal for a great hotel.
BobT172 Posted July 24, 2010 #3 Share Posted July 24, 2010 Many good hotels on 17th ST. in Fort Lauderdale....only a few minutes form both airport and port. Alot of shopping and resturants nearby, including a Walgreens and Outback, etc. All are in the $15 range for a taxi. We have always stayed at the Embassy Suites...good pool, manager's reception, full cooked to order breakfast buffet, etc. However, they do not have complimentary shuttles. Gordo Posted July 24, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted July 24, 2010 Thank you for the information - we didn't even think about having the shuttle included in the hotel price. What a great option. The last time we cruised out of Florida it was through Miami and they didn't offer the shuttle option. We appreciate the suggestions.
