29 years after wedding cruise

29 years ago, my bride and I were married aboard Holland America's ss Veendam in New York Harbor. After a reception on board in one of the lounges, our guests departed, and, at about 5pm, we sailed to Bermuda.

 

Today, we and our daughter, 21, drove to NYC to see Mama Mia on Broadway. After the show, just before 5pm, on our walk to the car, we hear a ship blasting its horn just prior to its departure. Curious, we drive towards the water and see a ship leaving the pier- Holland America's mv Veendam. An amazing coincidence - same cruise line, ship with almost the same name, leaving at exactly the same time we left 29 years ago!

That's is one of those special moments in life that have no explanation just a great feeling :)
