A group of us are cruising on the Carnival Liberty on Sunday August 15th and are looking at flying into San Juan on the 14th. Any suggestions on a nice yet affordable place to stay?

Not exactly cheap, but they had a great manager's reception in the evening with free drinks and light snacks. The morning breakfast was fantastic. The pool and hot tub area is beautiful. It was a 3-4 block walk to the beach. We did that the morn we got on the ship and really liked the peace and calm. Grocery store about 2 blocks going right out of the hotel and a CVS or Walgreens 3 blocks going left out of the hotel. The area looks a little run down BUT if you look close you will see expensive condos lining the beachfront area, so can't be too bad. We walked about 8 blocks every direction and felt completly safe. Subway down the street. Outback Steakhouse in the hotel so a great supper. Small casino....had fun...lost a little. It was a 20 cab ride from the airport (but only about 5 minutes) It was 20 cab ride to port (about 15 minutes). Cabs lined up, front desk efficient, everyone nice, place super clean.
