SeaTrailer Posted February 9, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 9, 2005 What time do most stores open for business and how late are they open? Also trying to determine if the shopping area is busy all day or do most cruise passengers shop in the morning and then go off to beaches in the afternoon. If you want to avoid crowds, is waiting until the PM an option? Thanks
alcpa1 Posted February 10, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 10, 2005 If you are talking about shopping in St. Thomas...The stores open around 9 or so in town. Depending on how many ships are in it can be very congested. The only problem with shopping in the afternoon is getting back to the ship. It can easily take 30 minutes or more because the traffic is ALWAYS heavy. Just make sure you leave yourself enough time to get back to the ship as the jitneys generally drop you off at Havensight and you may still have a hike to your ship. Have a great trip! CaribbeanBlue Posted February 16, 2005 #3 Share Posted February 16, 2005 The stores are generally open from 0900- 0930 am until 5pm. Lately tuesdays the Havensite shops are open until 730 pm. On Sundays the shops are open until 1pm. The rhythm on the street that I have noticed is heavy browsing in the am, the crowds thin out around noon as the taxis downtown take people for various tours. The tour groups return downtown around 1pm and the buying begins. Hope this helps CaribbeanBlue http://www.*****.org
