Yorkey's Knob =Great Barrier Reef

Does anyone know why Princess doesn't offer excursions to the Great Barrier Reef. I thought Cairns was the closest point to the GBR??

Don't know about Princess but for GBR P&O anchor off Airlie Beach near Whitsunday Island. those booked on reef tours leave from there on charter boats to go out to reef pontoons etc. Yorkey's Knob is the recognised anchor point for Cairns for ships that are too big to dock in the Port of Cairns itself
